Part of the drying process for rough-turning bowls is storing them in such a way as to slow down the elimination of water from the wood. Sam's procedure includes placing the bowls in shavings in a container: a cardboard box, a large paper lawn bag, or simply a metal garbage can.
Sam checks on the bowls periodically (as he does in this video) to watch for the wood splitting or checking. This occurs when the surface of the wood dries out too fast.
Sam's main focus is to select a bowl blank which will be the subject of his NEXT video which will follow this video very soon. Here is the link to the follow-up video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P9FZZ0myfgs
